SKRILLEX EP

I was a bit sceptical about downloading this EP after seeing a post about it on Deadmau5's

facebook page, but I can safely say this is something any electro, nu disco, dubstep, wobble fan should download. I can't even completely classify this EP into any particular subgenre as he blends the best elements into a melting pot of glorious, heavy, glitchy, breakbeat noise, which proves that there is still hope left for producers to redefine the typical approach to electronic music. The best part of this? The whole EP is 100% free!!

Not Dubstep Again!!!

Oh fuck. Oh shit son. Oh fuck. Excuse my French, but this is the only response I have to Nostalgia's Dubstep remix of Knights of Cydonia. It has Bellamy's epic original vocals, but the buildup leads into something a little.. ridiculous. Hold onto your pants, the drop will fuck your shit up.

A band I think everybody should have been into a while back are 'the XX'. I know it takes Adelaide ages to catch up to the UK scene, but for fucks sake don't start posting your year old tracks over facebook for everyone to frown upon. I would prefer to see you post Lady Gaga than be witness to your unknown public ridicule. So in conclusion, please take the effort and look into blogs like ours, as people post these tracks to save you time and effort. I do however apologise and give my respect to those who love the music enough to search for new songs themselves.
Enough of my ranting. Here are two remixes of the XX track 'Crystalised'. Firstly, a chilled out Dark Sky dubstep remix which features in the latest Jamie XX mix for Colette. As a bonus I have also posted a tripped out vocal house remix by Lorcan Mak. Get onboard!

Genre Fusion

Moving away from the heavy basslines and mind melting sounds, George Lenton has recently become a respected producer throughout the Dubstep game. Firstly, his unique remix of Al Green's 'Simply Beautiful' has been my most played track this month. Lenton creates a patient background beat through the blend of a deep bassline with light drum hits. Soft synthesizers and light guitar plucks create a relaxed mood to compliment Al Green's filtered vocals. The result? Well, you can listen to the masterpiece yourself!

Lenton has released a more upbeat remix also. This time he has recreated the Swizz Beatz' track 'Money in the Bank', turning it into something greater than the original. Beeps, buildups and offbeat basslines are used in conjunction with repetitive vocals and a steady drum beat (and cowbells!!) to create a strange mix of Electro and Glitch Hop.

James Blake has recently killed it with Dubstep tracks that are unlike anything that I have heard lately. The following remix of 'Stop What You're Doing' has received vigorous listening through my headphones. The sounds that James Blake creates are used so perfectly together, creating a unique genre splitting remix.

PANTyRAiD provides something new altogether in a remix of the Freeland track called 'Do You'. Tripped out vocal cuts accompany phased synths, attack driven kicks and wobbled drops. The finished product shows ambience alongside a heavy bassline. Give this a listen!

Diplo has reworked Sia's track 'Clap Your Hands' into a Dubstep chillout. High pitched beeps are used to buildup the track into a light and simple drop, which has a sound reminiscent of the bassline in the Afrojack remix of 'Cool'.

Last, but certainly not least, is a Mount Kimbie Dubstep remix of the Foals' latest hit 'Spanish Sahara'. Words cannot give an appropriate description of how pure this soft Dubstep remix is. Poetic verses create depressingly raw emotion, to control the listener's mood. The powerful vocals fill out the track in its entirety, covered by simple background clicks, beeps and atmospheric wind.

So this is the first official post of this music blog for DubbleSHiFt Dj's and there is no better way to kick things off then 2 dubstep mixes and some new tracks!

First up a MASSIVE remix by Subfocus, the guys responsible for 'Could This Be Real'.

The original tune is the Dubstep track by Rusko but Subfocus have reworked this into an awesome blend of Dubstep and Drum & Bass...check it out:
